About a year ago I decided to write a screenplay, or more accurately, I decided to look into what it takes to write one, and it didn't take long to find some great websites and blogs on screenwriting:

• go into the story

I bought a few of the 'must-read' books on the subject:

• Story
• Screenplay
• Save The Cat
• Writing A Great Movie
• The Art Of Dramatic Writing
• Screenwriting: The Sequence Approach

As well as subscriptions to magazines:

• Script
• Creative Screenwriting
• Moviemaker

Along with a couple of podcasts:

• On The Page
• Creative Screenwriting Magazine

I also took online classes at UCLA Extension:

• The Essential Beginnings: An Introductory Creative Writing Workshop
• Getting It Write: Writing the Story before Writing the Script

And signed up for two more that start in January 09:

• Dialogue Boot Camp
• Writing for Emotional Impact

I read a bunch of screenplays and became a member in good standing of Cineworks Independent Filmmakers Society

It's taken a year, and only after all that 'research' have I finally started my screenplay. I'm definitely enjoying the process and I thought I'd share what I've found to be most helpful thus far:
